After years of work with verifying the suitability of medetomidine as a marine antifouling substance I-Tech has submitted a registration dossier for approval with the EU authorities. EU legislation prompts all active substances to be used to prevent marine fouling to undergo critical review by competent chemical authorities.
The submission represents a very important milestone in I-Tech’s development and the compilation of data from more than 60 extensive scientific investigations into the efficacy and safety to users and the marine environment for medetomidine will serve as a base also for further registrations in the USA and elsewhere.
