35-40 000 ton of copper is disseminated into the sensitive marine environment annually. 97% of all antifouling is based on copper. Copper and derivatives thereof, is increasingly questioned as antifouling agent because of its negative environmental profile.
China, USA, Canada and the Netherlands introduces strict regulations or bans against copper in antifouling. In the Baltic sea, copper is forbidden.
I-Tech technology holds the key to solving this problem.
- Antifouling effect is reached in very small doses of SelektopeTM
- Positive results in environmental tests on marine life
- The effect on the barnacle dissapears as it leaves the surface i.e not fatal
- SelektopeTM has a long lasting effect in paint, which means longer docking intervals of ships and boats are possible.
