Selektope

performance
The antifouling effect is exerted through stimulation of a receptor in the barnacle cypride larvae. This makes the cypride unable to attach to a surface painted with Selektope
TM
. As soon as the cypride leaves the surface, the effect disappears, i .e. it is a reversible effect.
Antifouling effect is achieved in very low concentration, where other substances needs at least 100 times higher concentrations.
Its high degree of specificity– The specific mode of action and the well defined target organisms for Selektope
TM
; allows for designing efficient combinations with booster biocides to prevent fouling of microorganisms and algae and thus reduces the need for adding large amounts of copper containing compounds to the paint.
Its chemical binding properties – Selektope
TM
ability to coordinate to transition metals, allows for a controlled release of the substance over long periods of times.
The low concentration needed in paint formulations allow for mixing the substance with the majority of existing formulation. This without compromising the chemical and physical properties of the formulation.
